  2017 Fall Semester Opening Ceremony Held for 49 Thai Students

On Sept. 1 morning, 2017 Fall Semester Opening Ceremony forThai Students was held in our university . Oracha Tanakorn, the consul general for Thailand at Xi'an, Pesident Xu Kewei and Vice President Wang Xiaoping attended the ceremony. Aside from the 49 Thai students and their Chinese teachers from the School of Humanities , other teaching staff members also participated in event.

At the ceremony , President Xu delivered a speech, extending a warm welcome to Oracha Tanakorn, consul general and the 49 overseas students, recalling his visit to Thailand to establish  friendly cooperation with Thai universities in 2012 and expressing his hope that these overseas students work hard to improve their Chinese language competence and learn about the history and culture of Xi’an so as to contribute to China-Thailand friendship. He indicated that the living and learning environment for overseas students will be improved to attract more overseas students. Vice president Wang Xiaoping gave a brief introduction of the overseas students’ status quo and the curriculum for them. The consul general expressed her appreciation of what our university has done for these students education and the wish for further cooperation to provide opportunity for more exchange students from Thailand who may become bridge of exchange and cooperation between Chinese and Thai cultures.

Teacher representative from the School of Humanities informed their education plan for these students, and the student representative of the 49 students gave speeches , expressing their interest in and expectations of the exchange programme. The ceremony concluded with gift exchanges between the corresponding parts.
