 BISHUN PRASAD PAUDEL Visits Xi’an University

On the morning of April 15th, accompanied by Sun Jianning, deputy inspector ofEducationDepartment of Shaanxi Provincial Government, Zhang Mingyuan,Director of Foreign LiaisonOffice of United Front Department of Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee, and Qiang Sheng,Director of Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Xi’an Municipal People’s Government,BISHUN PRASAD PAUDEL,General Secretary of Secretariat of Communist Party of Nepal,and Rajiv Kumar Jha, Distinguished Professor of Xi’an Universityvisited Xi’an University.ChenGang, the President of Xi’an-U, Wang Xiaoping, the vice president, and the leaders of relevantdepartments and colleges attended the meeting. The meeting was hosted by Mrs. WangXiaoping.

Mr. BISHUN PRASAD PAUDEL, Mr.Chen Gang and Mr.Sun Jianning hold theInauguration forXi’an South Asian Studies Center.

Mr. Chen Gang extended the warmest welcome to the delegation of Mr.BISHUN PRASAD PAUDEL and briefly introduced the history, classification of discipline, overview of scientific research of Xi’an-U. He focused on the aspects of international cooperation, exchanges with overseas students and teachers, the Mandarin training programs among the countries along the Silk Road, especially on the efforts and achievements in the education and cultural exchanges with Nepal. Mr. Chen Gang also expressed his hope in further cooperation in enhancing the education of overseas student and research in primary education on the basis of the platform of Xi’an South Asian Studies Center to make greater contribution to the friendly communication between China and Nepal.

After the speech of Mr. Chen Gang, Mr. Sun Jianning delivered the welcoming speech to expressthe belief inconducting substantive cooperation with the universities in Nepal in thefields of academic exchanges, scientific research cooperation, and internationalstudents exchanges to contribute to the education in two countries.Mr. Qiang Sheng reviewed friendly exchanges between Xi'an and Nepal in recent years, and introduced ProfessorRajiv Kumar Jha's outstanding contribution in promoting the non-governmental exchanges between Xi'an and Nepal. He saidthe inauguration of Xi’an South Asian Studies Center with the great effort of Professor Rajiv is a mark that Xi’an University, Xi’an Municipal Government and Nepal and other countries in South Asian will develop a more in-depth exchange and cooperation.Finally,Mr. BISHUN PRASAD PAUDEL delivered a speech. He reviewed the friendly exchanges between China and Nepal in recent years, especially the Chinese government's contentiously assistance to Nepal. He expressed gratitude to the provincial and municipal government,Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Officeand Xi’an University for their efforts in promoting friendly exchanges between China and Nepal. He said that the Belt and Road initiative put forward by the General Secretary Xi Jinping has closely linked China and Nepal. China and Nepal are neighbors and relatives. The Himalayas cannot block the mood and pace of exchanges between the two peoples. He said that attendance of the inauguration of the "Xi'an South Asian Studies Center" was his most important work during his visit to Xi'an. He hoped that the universities in the two places would use the "center" as a platform for diversified exchanges and cooperation, especially in the training of talents. He invited provincial and municipal leaders and teachers and students of Xi’an- U to visit Nepal as soon as possible.

After the meeting, the delegation visited the Xi'an South Asian Studies Center and ProfessorRajiv Kumar Jha's Office, and then visited the international student from Nepal studying at Xi’an University.
